SPLM Norway elects new committee
April 17, 2008 — In its General Assembly Meeting held in Oslo on Saturday, the 15th of March 2008, the members of the SPLM Chapter in Norway elected a new Executive Committee and chose a woman as its leader. With a majority of 26 votes versus 4 votes for second place candidate Mr. Walter Lodwa, the Chapter selected its first woman chairperson since being established in 1996. The new executive is composed of the following:
1. Ms. Regina Nygang Gai – Chairperson
2. Mr. Salow Shigan Salow – Vice Chairperson
3. Mr. Emmanuel Adhar – Secretary General
4. Mr. Chol Kot Nguen – Secretary for Finance
5. Mr. Anthony Lino Girikpio – Secretary for Information and Political Mobilization
6. Mr. Jacobsen Reath Murgot – Secretary for Youth and Women Leagues
Ms. Catrina Akot (Alternate)
7. Mr. Yien Puok Chamdeng – Secretary for Foreign Affairs
There is also an incoming Auditor for the Chapter: Mr. William Ochieng Logai.
Ms. Gai was born in Malakal, Sudan, attending Juba One Primary School and Imatong Secondary School. She is fluent in Juba and Classical Arabic, English and Norwegian. She speaks Nuer, Shilluk, Dinka, Swahili and Hindi. She has a Bachelor of Laws (first division) from Aurangabad, India and a Master of Public International Law from the University of Oslo in Norway.
Madame Gai served as the former co-chair of the New Sudan Community in Norway (NSCN) and is the niece of the Honorable Madame Rebecca Garang de Mabior.
Madame Gai has also been selected as the Delegate from Norway to the SPLM Convention in Juba, and shall serve as the Nordic countries Women’s representative and one of two women representatives from Europe.

It will create more enthusiasm for you, having shown to Norwegian that you still possess the love of your country, is fundamemtally and significantly impacting your people and you too.
