PRESS RELEASE                                                                                            Date: 16/01/2023

The Constitutional Law Association of South Sudan (CLASS) avail its compliment to the Revitalized
Transitional Government of National Unity (R-TGONU) represented by the esteemed Ministry of Justice
and Constitutional Affairs and to congratulate the later for making a giant step forward in the
implementation of the peace agreement.

CLASS would like to draw to the attention of the government that the timeline imposed by the Constitution Making Process Act 2022 under section (9)(1) and (3) be respected and implement as soon as possible.

We expect the Ministry to form a Taskforce according to the definition of the Act for parties to present
their nominees under section (9)(3) of the Act. From the date of this press release, the parties are left with 12 days to present the lists of their respective nominees to the Taskforce which is yet to be form by the ministry of Justice. We are also left with 27 days to reconstitute the Reconstituted National Constitutional Review Commission (R-NCRC).

Both steps are critically important for the kick off of the Act’s implementation process.
CLASS is a national civil society organisation that is passionate about the constitution making process
and would therefore be an important partner in the implementation of the Act. We have been monitoring
the whole process of the constitution making process starting with the drafting of the bill to its passage by Parliament and the subsequent ascension into law by H.E. the President.
