January 23, 2023 (KHARTOUM) – The leadership of the Forces for Freedom and Change  (FFC) will travel to Juba to brief the South Sudanese leaders about the political process in Khartoum

The pro-democracy coalition which prepares to sign a final agreement with the military component in the coming weeks to restore a civilian transitional government decided to carry out a regional tour to brief the neighbouring countries and friendly governments about the ongoing process in Khartoum.

The decision comes to mobilize regional support and dissipate reports that the process was against their efforts to bring peace and stability in Sudan.

In a statement on Monday, the FFC said its first visit will be to Juba on Tuesday, January 24, where they would meet President Salva Kiir and South Sudanese officials.

“The purpose of the (two-day) visit is to brief the brothers in South Sudan about the ongoing political developments in Sudan in light of the signing of the framework agreement and the beginning of the final phase of the political process,” reads the statement.

The FFC want to coordinate with the government of South Sudan on how Juba, which mediates the peace process to end armed conflicts in South Kordofan Darfur, can support the political process and accelerates the recovery of the path of civil democratic transformation, added the statement.

Hadi Idris a member of the Sovereign Council and leader of the Sudanese Revolutionary Front was in Juba on January 21, where he met with President Kiir to dismiss reports that the coalition of the armed groups is willing to cancel the peace agreement he mediated.

Also, the FFC plans to visit Chad, Ethiopia, Eritrea Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates and Qatar.
