South Kordofan imposes curfew after recent attacks
January 25, 2023 (KHARTOUM) – The security committee of Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan state imposed an overnight curfew in the city after recent bloody violence in the city.
Gunmen opened fire on a bus station in Kadugli on Monday, killing four people and prompting authorities to declare a state of emergency for one month.
“The curfew runs from 7 pm until 5 am. All the residents and shop owners must put the decision into effect,” reads a statement released by the official SUNA.
Kadugli Acting Executive Director, Mutaz Abdel-Baqi Adar, stated that the recent decisions came in the context of the recent attack that took place in the city, which killed four people and injured four others.
Mutaz added that these security measures aim to ensure the security and safety of Kadugli residents and avoid the deterioration of the security situation.
The attack was not claimed by any group.
Kadugli and surrounding areas are witnessing an increase in insecurity including looting and attacks.
