January 30, 2023 (KHARTOUM) – Abdel Fattah al-Burhan called on the Sudanese to resolve their problems by themselves and not to seek solutions from outside the country.

Al-Burhad made his remarks during the launch of a Saudi project to build 500 underground water pumping stations in Sudan on Monday.

“Everyone should not wait for solutions that come from outside the country and work to solve our problems by ourselves to build Sudan,” he said in presence of the Saudi ambassador to Khartoum.

“We will stand as a bulwark against anyone who wants to tamper with the security and stability of Sudan,” he further said.

Sudanese political actors including the military leaders have launched a process aiming to restore a transitional civilian government facilitated by the Trilateral Mechanism.

But two former rebel groups, signatory of the Juba peace agreement and their allies refused to join the process. But they will travel to Cairo for a meeting on the political crisis organized by the Egyptian government.

Earlier last week, al-Burhan ended a mediation to bring the two Darfur armed groups to join the internal process. However, the holdout groups met his deputy on Sunday to discuss ways to resume discussions with signatories of the framework agreement.
