SPLM Convention retains three deputies to the Chairperson

By James Gatdet Dak

May 18, 2008 (JUBA) – Some clauses in the new Constitution of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) were amended by the Movement’s Second National Convention in its Saturday’s session which resulted into restoration of three deputies to the Chairperson.

SPLM_convention_opening_session.jpgSome members of the delegates to the Convention made a strong lobbying to retain positions of three deputies to the Chairperson in the Constitution so that a consensus could be reached to persuade Dr. Riek Machar Teny and Mr. Nhial Deng Nhial, the two contenders for Chairperson to withdraw their declaration of candidacy against the interim Chairperson, Salva Kiir Mayardit.

The SPLM Interim National Council (INC) passed the draft Constitution early this week reducing the number of previously three deputies to only one – a matter that prompted Mr. Malik Agaar, Third Deputy Chairperson to compete against Hon. James Wani Igga, Second Deputy Chairperson in the position of Dr. Riek Machar, First Deputy Chairperson.

Dr. Riek Machar also declared his candidacy for the SPLM Chairperson.

The SPLM Interim Political Bureau (IPB) held an emergency meeting on Saturday before the Convention’s session convened to try to find a solution to these stiff competitions that caused the former leadership team to contest for each other’s seats.

The restoration of three deputies’ positions may lead the contenders to withdraw their declarations of candidacy for chairperson and leave President Kiir unopposed.

This may also relax Hon. James Wani Igga and Mr. Malik Agaar to withdraw to their previous positions.

Meanwhile, a prominent figure in the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), Madam Rebecca Nyandeng de Mabior, widow of the Movement’s founding father, late Dr. John Garang de Mabior, denied allegations that there is rift within the SPLM’s ranks and file.

Nyandeng, a Presidential Advisor on Gender and Human Rights and one of the delegates to the Convention told the press on Saturday that the Movement’s transformation into a viable democratic political party is in accordance with its principles.

The Convention is expected to elect the SPLM leadership on its final day on Monday, May 19 and to celebrate the Movement’s 25th Silver Jubilee on Tuesday, May 20, 2008.

Riek is a man that belongs to both world. He belongs to the world of the SPLM/A as a vice president, and at the same time he is recognized as a champion in the inner circle of the NCP due to his 1991 war against the SPLM/A.

Keeping him in any of the top positions of the SPLM/A is a way of giving him another chance to continue and to achieve his 1991 objectives. The man just wants power and in which he dreams to disintegrate the SPLM/A.

This cannot be allowed to happen because of the uselessness of the man. Get rid of him before he get rid of the SPLM/A.
Nuer and other tribes can work together to build the SPLM/A with out him. There will be no room for him or his kids in Anya-nya III.

    thanks

Ahmed Chol, the future commander of Anya-nya III.

    DEAR PARTRIOTS,

Show this empty headed Riek where to go.
NEVER PUT THAT RATE IN OUR BASKET ONCE AGAIN. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH FOR ALL THAT DAMAGES HE DID TO US SINCE 2005 TO DATE.

We sometime value who one was some days back, who he is now, and who he will be in future.
Mayardit said some days back, that Sudan is becoming a place for dumping all sort of rubbish, “including fake degrees,” I personally add that becouse Mayardit left that out in his sincere speech. He was 100% right, do you know why I say so. There are these graduates donkeys who got their education in the rubbish pits. They are now confusing our young nation with their rubbish papers, claiming to be followed by the very people who restored our names from the mundukurus.

The rate am talking about now is him he who signed the contracts of the renovationof all the GOSS ministries in Juba. You know who he is, no mentioning of his name here.

You know what he did?, he pocketed every coin that was main for the renovation works, now our ministies are the way we found them from mundukurus. You see now, the man has no big differences with the mundukuru that we fought for 21 years. He left us in the mids of our strugle and joined our great enemy. After we were about to defeat him and the enemy he plead for forgivrness, we forgives him and welcome him home. Wani Igga said he is our beloves brother,”late’s forgive him but we shall not forget”.See now. He started pocketing our belonging in a broad day light and above all he greedily want to become our leader!!. eeeh!!.

Brothers where are we heading to really?. A theif who do steal from poor man’s pockets want to become a leader, what a great shame!! eeeeh.
If you guys want a corruption free Sudan, don’t allow Machar to get back in to that post becouse he is going to clear all that we have in our basket with in one minute.
Votes him out and you shall see southern Sudan a prosperous country.

Long live SPLM/A, Long live the partriots of this young nation,
    Long live Mayardit.

Long live Deng Akol Agut-tunduon,a man far away from tribalism.

    Gatwech,

Your Riek Machar is daed from the neck up. Am telling the truth, look here, this is not the right time for hiding the rotten parts of greedy politicians like your uncles. What exactly do you thinks your Machar can do right to the people of Southern Sudan this time round???.We gave him enough time thinking that he is going to change but unfortunately he did not. Now do you thinks the people of Southern Sudan, whom he looted their finance are going to allow him to enter their golden basket????, never!.

Your uncle is soon going to be the boot licker of the mundukurus as he did in 1990s,please caution him well becouse this time it is not going to work well the like it was in 1990s. Insteates the mundukurus are going to castrates him right away becouse he is valueless, see now.
Mundukurus of this time knows who is left with degnity!!. Your uncle have no degnity of leading the Southerners to referendum,do you know why???. Relax am going to tells you right now.

Gatwech, if Basheir can say that he knows how to win Riek back to NCP. what more do you expects the people of the great southern Sudan to do to him?.
Basheir said in his last remarkd when Riek left Khartoum that, he (Bashier) is going to pour only 100 bags of Canaana Sugar into the nile starting from Nimule if he had time and Your idiot, naive uncle will start swimming on that sugary waters ot the nile untill he reached Khartoum unknowingly eeeeeh!!!.what a great shame???.
Now you defence your corrupts uncle do you want me to add more of that stop, stop it now before it is too late for you and your uncle to restored back your degnity.

Its takes real man to liberate the rest,

    Long live the SPLM,

    Long live the SPLA.

I appreciate the move taken by the SPLM leadership to give way to Mayardit SPLM/A cairmanship unoppose.

This decision will block the external politics from disintegrate the party.

The rest of the aspirans should take time to identify their manifestoes to Southerners for the future ratification.

Other politicians should not insist compaigning against president Kiir because he is the patroitic and hero who have had never thought of spoiling the SPLM since 1983 to this day.
So he deserve to take this SPLM chairmanship without hindurance.

I am sure the intention of other politicians is to ammalgamate (emmergery) SPLA armed forces into NCP forces which the Arabs want, sothat the history of 1972 of Any-anya 1. repeat itself again.
The current SPLM leadership should be at wake enough not to allow that history from repeating itself for the second time.
Also CPA put it that nothing should be change till 2011.So why do the Southerners wanted to change their leader while NCP stil maintaining their Bashir.
If the contenders were people like Wani Igga,Koul Manyang,Daniel Awet,Malik Agar among others then they would have been allow to contest because they are loyalist librators like Kiir.Nhail Deng should wait till referandom time.

    Thank you.

    Hi folks:

Most of you who gave the above comments are strong tribalist. It doesn’t make sense when most of you tries to clean the side of his tribeman and promote him for the chairmanship. Southsudan don’t belong to either Nuer or Dinka, those who think that way are true losers and mentally sick.

For us who are not Nuer or Dinka, Kiir and Dr. Riek togather as they were, is fine, those who wanted to push Riek away for tribal reasons are deadly mistaken and those who wanted to uproot Kiir off from his position for hiden reason are also falling at the same pit.But I know no one had decided to take Kiir out anyway. As matter of fact I am fully contended with the way things are heading today where Kiir remain in his seat followed by Dr. Riek as it was.

Removal of Dr. Riek from his position was not going to annoy only Nuer but all other southerners who are not Dinkas because it was going to be turned as long term Dinka hiden propaganda of removing all those qualified and most abled leaders who are not Dinkas and replace them with the soft & weak ones like Wani Agga who may not even bother to ask his own secretary a question if the secretary happened to be from Dinka. Those absent minded people like So called Logic knows nothing about what they are saying.

Both Kiir and Riek are good leaders whom we love to see them leading. Whoever want to remove one of them in order to replace his uncle out of system is wrong and he/she will not win his/ambition, in surprise circumstances, his/her uncle will be the one to lose forever and ever put that inside your little tribalistic minds.

Let stop barking and destroying the reputation of our leaders. Riek was not the only one in Khartoum, bunch of us were also there and the agreement Riek signed in 1997 bored the same signitures like the one on CPA papers.

Let minimize false criticisms and seek for genuine unity.

    God bless.
