April 5, 2023 (KHARTOUM) – South Sudan’s advisor on security matter, Tut Gatluak Manime on Wednesday delivered President Salva Kiir’s message to the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council of Sudan, General Abdul-Fattah Al-Burhan.

The message, Manime said, focused on the bilateral relations between the two neighbouring countries and on ways to advance prospects for joint cooperation.

Sudan, the current chair of the regional bloc (IGAD), is one of the main guarantors of the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan.

According to Manime, the meeting also dealt with the overall situation in Sudan and South Sudan, noting that he briefed the President of the Sovereignty Council on the efforts made by South Sudan government to implement the agreement.

The security advisor cited last month’s visit to Juba by General Shams-Eddin Kabbashi, a member of the Sovereignty Council and the meetings he held with the aim of supporting implementation of the peace agreement in South Sudan.

He further stressed the commitment of all the parties to the peace agreement in South Sudan to implement the 2018 peace accord to ensure peace and stability.

The meeting also discussed the implementation of Juba agreement for peace in Sudan, adding that large numbers of Sudanese displaced persons and refugees in Sudan are preparing to return voluntarily to their home areas in the Blue Nile.
