Southern Sudan Coordination Council hails ties with Egypt

JUBA, Sudan, Feb 29, 2004 (SUNA) — Chairman of the Coordination Council of the Southern States (CCSS) Dr Riek Gai discussed Sunday cooperation with Egypt in the health fields, particularly eye medicine.

Receiving the visiting Egyptian medical delegation in Juba, Bahr-al-Jabal State (southern Sudan), Dr Gai commended the distinguished relations linking the Sudan and Egypt, expressing his hope that visits of Egyptian delegations to the south would continue in the coming period.

In this connection, the chairman of CCSS briefed the Egyptian delegation on the priorities of the CCSS, top of which is developing the people of the south and improving their capabilities.

Meanwhile, Chairman of the delegation affirmed that the relations linking Sudan and Egypt are deeply-rooted and strong, expressing hope to do more medical surgeries in the southern states.

It is to be noted that the Egyptian medical delegation has conducted more than 50 eye surgeries in the Bahr-al-Jabal State.
