SPLM denies Sudanese president statement over Abyei Administration

May 31, 2008 (KHARTOUM) — Officials from the Southern Sudan ruling party denied today statement made yesterday by the President Omer al-Bashir over new proposal to form a joint administration for the disputed Abyei.

People_displaced.jpgYasir Arman the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement deputy secretary general for northern Sudan and member of the NCP-SPLM Executive Political Committee described al-Bashir statements as “public relations” operation.

“It is just a public relations statement that doesn’t address the actual situation in Abyei,” Yasir Arman, told Reuters.

“There is no agreement on borders until now to base the administration on,” he further said.

Speaking in a news conference on the sideline of the Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) on Friday the Sudanese president said his first deputy and southern Sudan president Salva Kiir discusses the NCP proposition with the second deputy Ali Osman Taha.

Since three years Abyei remains without administration due to the failure of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) parties to agree on the territorial definition of Abyei.

The NCP rejects the conclusion of the Abyei Commission Boundary saying it bypassed its attributions. While the SPLM demands the respect the binding character of these conclusions as it was agreed in Abyei Protocol and to implement it.

The clashes between the SPLA and the Messeiriya tribesmen raised the tension in the area since December. The last week fighting between the Sudan Armed Forces and the SPLA confirmed that the mishandling of Abyei deadlock can lead the country to war again despite the reassuring statements on “no return to war again” by the two parties.

Heavy fighting erupted in the last two weeks in the oil rich contested area between the SAF and the SPLA, resulting into hundreds of civilian casualties, destruction of the whole town and displacement of up to 90,000 people, according to the United Nations.

Anne Itto, the SPLM deputy secretary general for southern Sudan said efforts should be directed to the pressing humanitarian situation more than the talks over the administration. Further she said that SAF forces should be withdrawn from the town of Abyei.

“The administration issue is nothing new,” she added.

U.S. special envoy to Sudan Richard Williamson, who held talks on Abyei with the southern Sudan government president, toured the area on Friday.

Williamson said after his meeting with Salva Kiir that Abyei remains a powder cake that could implode and destroy whatever is achieved in the 2005 peace agreement.

Iam glad that the SPLM leadership have recognised the enemy tactics of dishonest promises, and are standing firm on the idea of complete withdrawal of the evil brigade that killed our brothers and sisters in Abyei. Arabs in Sudan will ever remain the greatest enemies of African Sudanese especially Southerners. How can the terrorist NCP think of voluntary unity when its army obliterated Abyei? Unless a forced unity that ‘ll finally lead to the destruction of Khartoum. The next war is not going to be fought only in the South, but also in the northern cities and hence Arabs northern parties need to think hard to alleviate the next deadly confrontation. I hate you “Arabised piece of shit” (northerners) who in the real sense are claiming an identity that is not theirs. God bless South Sudan and the marginalised areas!!!!

SPLM denies Sudanese president statement over Abyei Administration
    Khartoum (Sudan Vision Daily)
Co-chaired by Vice President Ali Osman Mohammed Taha and GoSS Vice President Riek Machar, the Six-member Joint Executive Committee yesterday resumed its meetings aimed at reaching a final settlement for Abyei problem.
Machar told Sudan Vision that the joint meeting discussed the reports of SPLM and NCP reports, pointing out that the discussions centered on avenues for resolving the crisis. He added that SPLM welcomed the proposal made by NCP regarding formation of a joint administration for Abyei and that SPLM will study the proposal..

I just want to say, again and again. Nothing but racist ignorant clowns like these two here are the cause of a lot of the hate between people in sudan. Today its against arabs, tomorrow against Darforians then Shuluk then Nuir. Once a racist always a racist. Wether its Unity or the South divided you will never develop or improve as human beings until you change you way of thinking. Grow up kids.

You can OYEIiiiiii all you want. No-ones that racist.

SPLM denies Sudanese president statement over Abyei Administration
Such statements are not any thing stranger to people who know Beshir. He is such a person who speaks as if his mouth and brain are not connected. He should remember the statement of Dr. John when he used to say: ” The the costs of implementing CPA are cheaper than the cost of not impementing it.” Adding that” CPA should not be anyone’s cost.” If Beshir fails in his capacity to implement CPA, then both the south and north will taste the fruit of not implementing it in equal proprortions this time round, as opposed to the advent of CPA when SPLA was still a mere rebel grouping. At this point no one will be spared from that form of costs. There is a limit to everything. The corners of trick which used to manupilate South Sudanses in their quest for their right have now been mastered and they are no longer a threat in this case.
Please, think twice about your decision and give CPA a chance of being implemented to the letter.
