June 30, 2023 (KHARTOUM) – The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) in Sudan announced on Friday the extension of the closure of Sudanese airspace to all air traffic until July 10, 2023.

The decision to extend the closure excludes humanitarian aid and evacuation flights, subject to obtaining permits from the relevant authorities.

Sudan initially closed its airspace on April 15, 2023, following clashes between the army and the paramilitary force led by Mohamed Hamdan Daglo.

To ensure the continued safety of flight operations during the disruption caused by the closure of Khartoum airport and Sudanese airspace, the Sudanese authorities released a contingency plan, as reported by ANOTAM pilots’ bulletin on May 13.

The countries affected by the closure of Sudanese airspace include Ethiopia, Egypt, the Republic of Congo\Brazzaville, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo\Kinshasa, Chad, and Kenya.
