South Sudan’s Kiir in Ethiopia for bi-lateral discussions

August 6, 2023 (JUBA)- South Sudan President Salva Kiir on Monday left for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for bi-lateral talks with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed.

The Minister for the Presidency, Barnaba Marial Benjamin said the one-day meeting seeks to strengthen the long-standing relations between the two nations.

The two leaders, Marial told reporters in Juba, will also discuss diplomatic relations, economic cooperation and infrastructural development, among others.

Several officials, including First Vice President Riek Machar, saw Kiir off at the airport.

South Sudan and neighbouring Ethiopia have enjoyed good bilateral relations.

Last year, the two countries signed a pact to promote bilateral relations on security.
