Sudan national carrier suspended for one month
June 21, 2008 (KHARTOUM) — The Civil Aviation Authority has banned the national air carrier from flying for a month for breach of administration rules. The authority however said no link between this suspension and the crash of last month.
A Sudan Airways plane on 10 June crashed at the end of its flight number 109 from Amman via Damascus at Khartoum Airport killing 30 passengers among them one craw member. The CAA is currently probing the cause of the accident.
The Civil Aviation Authority said the one month suspension of Sudan Airways includes domestic and international flights.
Mohamed Hassan al-Mujammar, CAA director of safety and flight operations indicated that Sudan Airways failed to carry out the requested improvements outlined in an annual audit carried out at the end of May
The CAA suspension with be implemented from next Monday 23 June.
Mujammar said it was time to stop this type of non-compliance with international standards, however he underlined that the ban has no link with accident of June 10.
Sudan Airways contested the decision in a press statement issued this evening saying will discuss it with the concerned authorities.

safety must always come first because life is very precious.With used planes a lot of effort must be put in full swing.Non destructive testing Inspectors/technicians should check the planes frequently and so must the ground Engineers. Treat safety as the number one issue. We have had so many plane accidents with loss of life of very important people.
