Catholic Church in Sudan has consecrated a New Bishop
June 30, 2008 (YAMBIO) — The Catholic Church in Sudan had last Sunday consecrated Dr Edward Hiboro Kussala as the new Rt. Rev Bishop for the Diocese of Tombura Yambio.
The consecration came after his appointment by Pope Benedict the 16th to succeed HL Rt. Rev Bishop Gasi Abangite now the retired Bishop (Emeritus) of Tombura Yambio Diocese.
In his address to the Catholic congregation and denominations in WES, His Eminence Gabriel Zubeir Wako, said that, “the consecration of Bishop Hiboro does not mean he is the smartest and brilliant priest among all the priests in the Diocese of Tombura, [but], because he was chosen by God to lead his shepherds in the proclamation of Eucharist and the continuation of Jesus’ work”.
Zubeir Added that “His fellow priests should work close to him and support him for the betterment of his apostolic work, likewise the new bishop should listen and work together with his fellow priests colleagues”.
However the Cardinal warned that “the church in Tombura Yambio Diocese should distance itself from tribalism, church organizations and Christians should learn how to live in peaceful and in a diversity society”.
The New Bishop Dr Edward Hiboro Kussala, gave much thanks to Catholic church of Tombura-Yambio for the reception he received, he thanked his mentor, the retired Bishop for his tremendous and great works he has done for the people of WES and the entire Sudan, more special in areas of Education and pastoral work.
“The shoes I am wearing are still of the retired bishop, I have a lot to know from him, I will do all it needs for human requirements for the retired Bishop”, Hiboro told the cheering congregation.
He promised to work hand in hand with other actor to enhance development of church both spiritual and physical infrastructure.
Addressing the ceremony, His Grace Arch Bishop Poulino Lukudu Loro, urged the southern Sudan government and local authorities to not exclude the Church from the implementation of development programmes.
“The government is not appointed to sit in decorated offices and on luxury chairs, [but], to provide services to the people, the government should not sideline the church in its programs, the church has a great role to play in the development of the country in many areas, not only preaching”.
Lukudu Advised the new governor that, “it is good to see that, Col Patrick Zamoi is around, the new governor should consult him and normalize relations with him, he still a great man and future leader of WES”, he added that, “the new governor should still consult with the late Governor, even of he is up with God or down, his wisdoms can help”.
Lukudu says, “He still believes that, the former governor of WES can contribute a lot to the development of WES”.
The consecration event of the new bishop is the first of its kind in the recent history of Tombura-Yambio diocese, headquartered in Yambio, since the 1980s.
The New Bishop is now left with the task of constructing a cathedral of Tombura-Yambio diocese, a building which the former Bishop had laid its foundation.

Consecration means alot and needs no joking, i say that b’se you are young and may need to satisfy your self worldly(humans and materials), preach all yee God to the people and i here advise all the religious leaders that God’s people are the government and your active participation in the GoSS is of much concern.
Build schools,churches,hospitals and make peace amongst all the Sudanese and the Southerners in particular for where does Christians world donation go? Make your faith seen inside you by others through all yee best you offer them for such acts led Christ-Messiah into death to freed the innocent people.
Lit up your lamps-Others Bishops and shine in the whole south and your flame shall not perished no more.

Great work done by the Catholic Church in Sudan.thanks to the Church leaderships and the church of christ.Congragulations Bishop Hiboro,your consecration came at the right time and the right place.Now there is a new hope that you can begin to gather all the lost sheep which were lost during the bitter civil war.Many had fallen prone to devilism,paganism others had gone astry to consult witchcrafts and magics.During the war many had backslided into crimes,those who could not resisted hunger and other temptations decided to join Islam etc,just to survived hunger or death threats.Soldiers and civilians were victims of such holocusts.May the almighty God bless the people of western Equatoria state and unite all the denominations under the umbrella of christ.Dr. Hiboro God has chosen you as a good sherperd to lead,protect,build,convince all and share with all the believers.
