Sudan’s Sovereign Council chief embarks visits Turkey
September 13, 2023 (PORT SUDAN) – The Chairman of the Sovereign Council Lt Gen Abdel Fattah al-Burhan embarked on an official visit to the Turkish capital, Ankara, according to an official statement on Wednesday.
During his trip, al-Burhan is scheduled to hold talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, focusing on relations between the two nations, strategies for their enhancement, and matters of mutual interest.
At Port Sudan International Airport, Lt Gen Mohamed Al-Ghali Ali Youssif, Secretary-General of the Sovereign Council, and several ministers bid him farewell.
Accompanying him on this visit are Ali Al-Sadiq, the Foreign Minister; Lt Gen Ahmed Ibrahim Mufaddal, the Director of the General Intelligence Service; and Lt Gen Mirghani Idris Suleiman, the Director General of the Defence Industries System.
Following his departure from Khartoum last August, al-Burhan visited four countries Egypt, South Sudan, Qatar, and Eritrea.
Since April, the Sudanese military and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces have been entangled in a conflict void of significant triumphs.
The Sudanese army’s commander in chief expresses support for a political resolution that does not uphold the presence of two separate armies in Sudan.
