France urges Sudanese president to respect ICC decisions

July 14, 2008 (PARIS) — French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner urged Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir Monday to respect the decisions of the U.N. war crimes court, after its chief prosecutor applied for an arrest warrant on genocide charges.

“It is a decision by the International Criminal Court that President al-Bashir must respect. He must take the court recommendations into account, period,” Kouchner told reporters following talks with U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in Paris.

His remarks came after ICC prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo formally requested an arrest warrant for al-Bashir for genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in Sudan’s conflict-torn Darfur region.

Asked whether France would support the ICC whatever the repercussions on the search for a political settlement in Darfur, he replied: “We know what the possible consequences are, but we are supporters of this international court.”

“We know that it is not possible to protest against its decisions,” Kouchner added.

France has provided 2,100 of the 3,500 troops of a European Union peacekeeping forced deployed in eastern Chad, over the border from Darfur, aimed at protecting Sudanese refugees.

France urges Sudanese president to respect ICC decisions
The ICC Pre-Trial Judges should not ignore nor should they delay warrant arrests against the murderers. However, the evidences presented by Mr. Ocampo were more than enough. We the Sudanese people know what Omar Al-Bashir and his militias did against the Darfurians and the south Sudanese people during his rule as President of Sudan. Therefore, the ICC Pre-Trial Judges should issue warrant arrests against Al-Bashir as soon as possible so that he can defend himself in front of the ICC in Hague.

My advice goes to my nephew President Al-Bashir. Do not behave like Saddam Hussein who ordered his army to fight for him and later on he was executed though he fought the international forces led by the USA in Iraq.

I have already made it clear to Luis Moreno Ocampo in this comment:

    Mr. Ocampo,
You have done a patriotic job in Sudan for the first time in the history.
For your information though you know everything about crimes committed by the NIF regime, I would like tell you that do not listen to those who want to distract you away from doing the right thing to the affected people in Sudan and the international community that the terrorists led by Al-Bashir aim at.

First, Al-Bashir came to power by force which is not allowed in the democratic world.

Second, he had allowed Osama Bin Laden to come to Sudan to train Muslim youth on suicide operations.

Third, Al-Bashir had recruited Mujahedeen and declared the holy war against southern Sudanese people. During that war ended with the signing of the CPA in the year 2005, people were killed like insects, women were raped in front of their husbands and many children were separated from their parents and taken away as slaves.

Fourth, Arab ethnic group in Darfur were armed to carry out mass killings, rapes and destruction of infrastructure in the Darfur region because of being black although they are Muslims.

Fifth, Al-Bashir had killed Ibrahim Shamis Al-Din and married his wife Widad Babikr as his first lady in Sudan. Just to mention a few.

Mr. Ocampo, please continue with your duty and led Omar Hassan Ahmed Al-Bashir follow Taylor to Hague.
