Sudan, Saudi sides sign agriculture cooperation agreement
KHARTOUM, Mar 04, 2004 (SUNA) — The Sudanese and Saudi sides signed here Thursday a memorandum of understanding and executive programmes on cooperation in the field of agricultural investment.
The memo and programmes were signed by the minister of agriculture, Dr Majdhub al-Khalifah, and his Saudi counterpart, Dr Fahd Bin-Abd-al-Rahman, in the presence of 45 Saudi businessmen.
The agreement deals with the cooperation between Sudan and Saudi Arabia in the agricultural, animal resources, combating of desert locust, plant protection.
An agreement on cooperation was also signed by the Sudanese and Saudi Arab agricultural banks.
The two sides have agreed on support to the establishment of joint Sudanese-Saudi agricultural investment projects, encouragement of the private sector in the two countries to set up investment projects in the fields of plant production, fodder, animal production, agricultural research, exchange of scientific and technical experiences in research in the fields of veterinary health, combating animal epidemics and fisheries.
