July 21, 2008 (BOR TOWN) — A restaurant waiter raped a four year-old girl on Friday July 18 in Bor town, police officials said.
Sabir Juma Abdullah, 50, was rescued and detained by police from an angry mob that threatened to stone him after the infant’s mother yelled for help as Sabir grew wild.
The mother of victim, Ayen Akuei told reporters at Bor Police Station that she left her child at home in her gandmother’s cares as she went farming at river bank. The terrified woman narrated the incident in tears before she broke down. “She called the little girl, graded and assault her,” she said.
Mr. Abdullah, a regular beer customer, was resting (or laying a trap as it surface later) on a bed out side a tukul and allegedly shifted inside where he defiled the infant. He denied any wrongdoing but insist he was ‘resting.’ “I was drunk…and decided to go into the room to sleep. I did not do it (defiling),” he said in defend during an interview with police.
The latest rape report refresh abuses Southern Sudanese went through during the decades civil wars that claimed 2 million lives. Women were abused by government troops in many ways among which rape, defiling and force-early marriages are among. Many women received the latest rape incident in Bor Town as horrifying and call the government to stop the history from repeating itself.
“We suffered in the hands of Arabs when their government was controlling Southern Sudan. We can’t tolerate these sexual abuses now,” an SPLM woman representative told Sudan Tribune at her party’s headquarters on Sunday.
Muslims (Abdullah’s colleague in faith) in Bor Town condemned this defilement and calls on associates to respect their religion norms. “This is a senior crime punishable by death,” said Hussein, a northern trader here. Hussein calls the Christians (majority) to remain calm and treat the case at individual level not religious.
It remains unclear whether State constitutions have any verdict for such crimes. Many criminals linger behind police cells citing lack of any power.

Oh what a shocking story!!! The accused individual if found guilty deserves death sentence as a warning to any evil minded individuals that their barbarity won’t be tolerated. As the name of this pedophile sounds arabic and islamic, i urge them to be careful in the south because our people are still wounded by their brutality during the war.

First of all, my appreciation goes to Ayen, the mother of the child, for being caurageouse enough to face the public to narrate the incidence, for things like that have been happening and the women used to be the first to let their children down. its so painful, so sad to hear such stories from home, especially from arabs whom we are trying to get over the mental trauma they caused us for many years. ChiLd abuse is all we can’t tolerate anymore. Enough is enough Mr. governor, we need laws to protect children, not only from external abusers, but also from those from within. We need a healthy generation to keep the life banner of our nation. We can’t affort seeing our younger siblings being raised at home, undergoing abuses like us, “the atong” generation, who were born in one country and raise in several other countries. Protect Southern Sudanese children, or else the life of our fallen heroes is in vain!

In my point of view I would like to know whether those dinkas are turning to be as other Arabs who are interested in male sexually intercourse, I personal think that Bor people are really going out of hands, how can a 50 years old man abuse a girl of 4 years old. This is absolutely stupid to see that Bor people are bringing the system of Arabs in South, We had a lot of abuses during the bush time but now it is time for heading into freedom and democracy not time for Bor to practice those stupid things in South. I personal believe that those Islamic in South who are not aware of our rights by stilling bringing a sort of moral ideas are the main point of bringing Islamic genocide in South these words applies to the people of Northern Equatoria particularly jonglei state, they must watch their culture of practicing such action.
