Sudan: Presidential decree extends interim period for southern states

KHARTOUM, 6 Mar 06, 2004 (SUNA) — President of the Republic Gen Umar al-Bashir Saturday issued a republican decree, stipulating extension of the interim period in the southern states for another year as of 8 March 2004.

The republican decree came after considering Article 137 of the Constitution and the recommendation of the Coordination Council of the Southern States and in accordance with provisions of Article 15 (2) of the constitutional decree No. 14 (implementation of the peace agreement, 1997).
