Sudanese president holds phone conversation with his Libyan counterpart
July 30, 2008 (TRIPOLI) — Sudanese President Omer al-Bashir has called on the Libyan leader to continue his efforts to achieve peace in the trouble Darfur.
According to the Libyan TV, Omer al-Bashir, held a telephone conversation with the leader Muammar al-Gadhafi to express his deep appreciation to efforts that he exerts to establish peace in Darfur.
After a time of suspicions and tacit accusations, relations between the two countries witness certain progress. Libya is playing with South Africa a principal role at the U.N. Security Council to block the indictment of the Sudanese president by the International Criminal Court.
Receiving the new Sudanese Ambassador to Tripoli on Tuesday, al-Bashir affirmed Sudan keenness to consolidate bilateral relations with Libya.
He called on Ambassador Mohamed Al-Amin Abdalla Al-Kareb to do his best for enhacing the fraternal relations between the two countries.
In a press statement to SUNA, Al-Kareb said that President Al-Bashir instructed him to give concern to the conditions of the Sudanese expatriates in Libya.
