Egyptian border guards wound Sudanese migrant
August 4, 2008 (RAFAH) — An Egyptian medical official says border guards have wounded a Sudanese migrant who was trying to cross illegally into Israel.
Imad Kharboush, head of the emergency unit at El-Arish Hospital, says border guards shot the 48-old Sudanese man on Monday, injuring him in the chest. The shooting occurred south of the Rafah crossing south of Gaza Strip.
Kharboush says the man is in stable condition at his hospital.
He says two others were arrested Monday and were being questioned by police.
Many African migrants seeking jobs try to cross illegally into Israel from Egypt.
