Sudan 2009 pesidential elections: a real dilemma

By Dr Justin Ambago Ramba, MD.

August 6, 2008 — Now as things are in the Sudan , all the political parties are geared towards the country’s ever expected democratic elections, especial with a presidential candidate from the South (Always marginalized) in the person H.E Salva Kiir the SPLM Chairman running against his Arab counterpart( Always marginalizing the others) the current ICC indicted President Al Bashir. This is a unique situation in the Sudanese politics as the Sudanese people from the West of the country ( Janjaweed excluded ) , the Strong Africans of the Nuba Mountains (True descendants of Sultan Ajabna and Al Faki Al Mirawi), together with the completely neglected Adoroop of the Beja and the ever gallant people of the Ingasana are at this crucial moment looking for a redeemer probably from the southern part of the country , because the south have pioneered a fierce resistant against the Arab / Islamic / Opportunists of the Nile Rivera and the Central regions of the Sudan.

Let the Sudanese go to fulfil the CPA the way it is written without the NCP doing any dirty games which would plunge the whole country into another devastating tag of war. After we have been kept as hostages for a life time with the hope of coming up with a better Sudan…Call it new Sudan …call it a free Sudan.. . Call it a secular. The hard truth is that, do we think that the power spoilt northerners have the least remorse to put up to the national feelings of a truly aspirant African lead majority leadership for this majority black African nation as opposed to the what almost looks like an ever continuous northern Arabs domination of a country in which they are the minority leave alone being guests in the continent itself.

As long as the criminal Al Bashir is still in power, the peace loving Sudanese need to tackle the issue even above their marginalization level. I am not interested in a united Sudan just for the sake of it. What I want is a well defined border where I can live a respectable life. I am a south Sudanese medical practitioner who was prosecuted by The NCP/ NIF for my 20 years service in the Nuba mountains and other parts of Northern Sudan and Omer Al Bashir himself knows it) and I think unity is out of question with anybody who calls himself an Arab or their sympathizers and even the ideology of the new Sudan are not spared here.

The African people of the Beja, the Nuba Mountains, Darfur and the Ingasana and south Sudan at large can not be held hostages by people who are proud of their Arab origins without the least respect to the time and space in which they currently exist and practically live. The current Sudan is too deformed to be reformed.

As for HE Salsa Kiir’s running for the elections, if it is something the SPLM party and their sympathizers would want to go through, then it is up to them but NEVER EVER at the expense of the 2011 referendum which I believe will establish an independent South Sudan Nation and a nucleus for the total independence of all the marginalized Black Sudanese Africans. We can not forget the contribution of an independent Uganda and Eretria plus Ethiopia to the level we are now in as far as our walk towards freedom is concerned. We as south Sudanese promise the same to our brothers and sisters in Darfur, The Nuba Mountains, Ingasana, and the Beja. But first things first, in other wards it is ONLY the Independent south Sudan which can make the difference in this chronic equation.

Thanks very much Dr.Justin Ambago for you have expressed yourself differently this time. Opinions of this kind are the ones needed much in our society(southern Sudan) in preference to the opinions which ignite hatred and another wars. Some of you are true when they point out some problems in the southern Sudan, but we call them domestic problems which can be solved later after we have solved the external one. It gives the enemy an advantage if you stress them alot since it makes our fledgling unity to disappear. So let’s not mislead our communities.

For sure our dream for the Republic of South Sudan will be true.

I reckon SPLA/M of Kiir should just go for the elections but with one thing in mind that they never gonna win. Arabs are not fools, look a big corruption allegation is that of a population of the South Sudan estimated to be only under five millions people, that’s a joke but it tells SPLA/M that elections won’t be fair and square. For the sake of peace and committment to CPA, then SPLA/M Kiir should run just for the presidency, but should be advise that whatever the outcome, we(Southerners) should think back about becoming one with Arabs. I implore the SPLA/M and other political parties of the South not to be coerced in fake unity. There is nothing special in the north and with Arabs. They always get hold of a wrong side of the stick. All peace monger of the sudan be advise that winning of an election by SPLA/M if possible and stucking in there will produce more harms than goods. Look, 98% of the countries occupied by these dreadful people are at war. TAKE YOUR MOVE BUT BE WISE ENOUGH.
