South Sudanese dies in Israel, help urged to repatriate his coffin

August 18, 2008 (RUMBEK) — Expatriates in Israel have urged the southern Sudanese government in Juba to help them to transport the coffin of a refugee died last week in Tel Aviv.
Hundreds of Sudanese refugees from southern and western parts of the country have succeeded t cross border from Egypt. The SPLM supporters decided last March to open an office in Tel Aviv but the southern Sudan ruling party distanced its self from the move.
Majier Pap, the head of Sudanese community in Israel told Sudan Tribune by telephone on Sunday that Abraham Thon, a Sudanese from Upper Nile, had died at hospital after being admitted.
Papa called on Southern Sudanese government to provide the necessary humanitarian assistance and help them to transport his body to his homeland in Upper Nile. He also said they were ready to take in charge the fees of the flight from Tel Aviv to Nairobi.
He said that “no place to bury the corpse in Tel-Aviv because Jewish authorities are saying if you want to burial here your man, you must to buy piece of land” But he affirmed that they have not enough money to do that.
He stressed their rejection to incinerate their friend saying “we must to respect our homeland tradition.”
He further said that GoSS has no mission there to facilitate the needed procedures in such situation, and expressed hopes Nairobi liaison office could help.

I’m praying that JEWs authorities in Tel Aviv will act and help the sudanese refugees in Israel.
I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ will rest Abraham in Peace.
Why did the Jews authorities refuse to Burry such Innocent person. it is not right in the eyes of God. I believe that they will fear God and do the right things.
Last year our people suffer from the hand of Eyptian who hosted refugees with water killing more than 27 southerm sudanese. our people when to Israel hoping Israelist will be good brothers to them. now israelist are worser than Eyptian.
please I beg my Brothers in USA,Australia, Canada or Britian to act and donate money for our deceased brother in Tel Aviv inorder to buy plot for his burial in Israel or transport him back home to south sudan.
