March 4, 2024 (AL-MUGLAD) – At least two civilians were killed, and four others were injured in an air strike carried out by Sudanese army warplanes on Monday in the city of Al-Muglad, located in West Kordofan State.

According to a statement by the Civil Committees in West Kordofan, the air strike targeted residential neighbourhoods west of Al-Muglad, particularly the Andalus neighbourhood. This resulted in casualties among women and children, in addition to damage to several homes.

The Civil Committees strongly condemned the attack, highlighting that targeting civilians in areas with no reported military activity constitutes a war crime and a violation of humanitarian law. They further emphasized the importance of adherence to agreements and treaties protecting civilians during conflict.

Local sources reported to the Sudan Tribune that armed individuals wearing Rapid Support Forces (RSF) uniforms attacked a weekly market in the town of Adiya, West Kordofan, on the same day. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least four people, including some from the attacking force.

Citizens expressed concerns about potential attacks by the RSF on weekly markets in West Kordofan.

The RSF holds control of Al-Muglad and maintains a presence near the city of Babanusa. They have repeatedly attempted to seize control of the army headquarters in Babanusa, but the Sudanese army has repelled these attempts.
