March 31, 2024 (EL FASHER) – The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) disclosed on Sunday the formation of a committee to investigate an attack by one of its own military groups on a supply convoy belonging to the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdel Wahid al-Nur (SLM-AW).

On March 29th, an RSF unit attacked an administrative convoy belonging to the SLM-AW northeast of El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State. The attack destroyed four military vehicles, fuel trucks, and supplies. The RSF has not officially commented on the incident.

However, platforms associated with the paramilitary group claimed their forces intercepted an attempt to deliver military supplies to the command of the 6th Infantry Division in North Darfur.

An RSF commander told the Sudan Tribune that “the RSF has contacted the SLM-AW and informed them of the investigation committee’s formation. The committee will hold accountable those responsible for the attack on the supply convoy. The RSF also pledged to compensate for the losses caused by the destruction of the four military escort vehicles.”

The RSF released five captured SLM-AW members, including the force commander. Additionally, they provided a truck carrying food supplies and Starlink devices and a fuel truck to the released personnel.

This attack marks the first confrontation between the RSF and armed movements since the war began on April 15, 2024.

The SLM-AW leadership strongly condemned the attack and demanded the immediate release of their captured members and belongings. They hold the RSF responsible for the incident and its consequences.
