South Sudan President sacks Central Equatoria governor
May 2, 2024 (JUBA) – South Sudan President Salva Kiir has sacked Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Anthony Adil, replacing him with General Augutino Jadalla Wani.
Kiir’s decree was announced on the state-owned television (SSBC) on Thursday night.
Adil, a member of the ruling party (SPLM), was appointed a governor in June 2020.
General Jadalla had previously served as the country’s deputy minister of Interior.
In a separate decree, the South Sudanese leader removed the deputy governor of Western Equatoria State, Kennedy Gaaniko, replacing him with Elia Richard.
No reasons were cited in the both gubernatorial orders signed by the president.
