The ICRC team was returning from Layba, where they were assessing the needs of communities affected by ongoing armed violence.

The ICRC is prioritizing support for those impacted by this tragedy, including the families, relatives, and colleagues of the victims, added the international organisation. The statement offered no details about the attack’s circumstances, which occurred in a region controlled by the Rapid Support Forces.”
The humanitarian group further called for the immediate protection of all civilians, including aid workers and medical personnel, who should never be targeted in violence.
