Sudan’s Kabbashi departs for official visits to Niger and Mali

Kabbashi heads to Niger and Mali on June 4, 2024

June 4, 2024 (PORT SUDAN) – General Shams al-Din Kabbashi, Member of the Sovereign Council and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, embarked Tuesday on official visits to Niger and Mali, accompanied by Defence Minister General Yassin Ibrahim.

Kbbashi was seen off at Port Sudan International Airport by General Mohamed al-Ghali Ali Youssif, the secretary-general of the Sovereign Council.

According to the Sovereign Council, he will meet with the leaders of both nations to discuss bilateral relations and explore avenues for strengthening cooperation.

Additionally, talks will focus on the ongoing conflict in Sudan and its ramifications on the regional and international stage.

Sudan accuses the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of recruiting fighters from Arab tribes in Chad and Niger and Mali, and smuggling looted vehicles and weapons into these countries.
