Sudan wallops South Sudan in World Cup qualifier match
June 12, 2024 (JUBA) – Sudan beat neighbouring South Sudan 3-0 in the 2026 football World Cup qualifying match played at Juba stadium on Tuesday.
The win has allowed the Falcons of Jediane top Group B while South Sudan is fifth.
The first 15 minutes of the game was quiet with neither side threatening to score.
The Falcons of Jediane, however, broke the deadlock through Walieldin Khidir assisted by Abdelrazig Yagoub Omer Taha in the final minute of stoppage time.
Sudan doubled its lead in the 51st minute through Yasir Mozamil Mohamed while Mohamed Abdel Raman ensured his team sealed the win with a 78th-minute goal.
It was the 20th goal for Raman who plays for Sudan’s Al-Hilal Omdurman football club.
South Sudan’s next game will be against the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in March 2025 while Sudan will next play Senegal in the qualification game.
