Sudan is incapable of bringing justice in Darfur
By Tadjadine Bechir Niam
October 12, 2008 — The utmost duty of any government in the world is the protection oft its citizens, and territories from external aggression. The performance of the Government of Sudan in that function is below big (Zero). For, (GOES) did not only fail in the protection of its citizens in Darfur, but itself committed crimes of genocide, violation of International humanitarian law, and war crimes. And much of the Sudanese territories are occupied and (Haliab) is a good example.
It was early 2003 and2004, when the Darfur rebel movements, accused the (Janjaweed) supported government of Sudan (GOS), of committing atrocities in Darfur, and called for international investigation and punishment. The government arrogantly rejected that idea and continues giving coverage, train. Fiancé, command and cooperating with them in inflicting complete devastation to the life in Darfur.
Under the pressure of the human rights originations, activists, and continues military and political operations of the movements the, United Nations (UN) intervened and send its investigation team to Darfur and that was a turning point not only in the history of Darfur, but the whole world. The international efforts are still on, and surely will bring justice.
It is this government that promoted the three most wanted criminals (Ahmed Haroun, Ali Koushayb and Musa Hilal). And it was last month, when the government and its disguised Janjaweed had restlessly attacked (Kalma), Displaced Camp. Killed, injured and detained many of its innocent inhabitants. The whole world condemned that irresponsible attack, adding more fuel to the already flaming fire. It was brutal, aggressive and unforgivable act.
. That attack has raised a lot of legitimate questions. Why the United Nations and the African troops are there, if they could not prevent such attack?
It is ONLY last month, when the government appointed, a General Persecutor and Legal Advisor and mandated them to bring justice in Darfur, none of them can be trusted, both men are from the decayed and bloody regime of Omer Al-Bashir. That is hitting around the bush, aimed to distract the local, regional, and the international attention from the late (ICC) Prosecutor indictment of (Al-Bashir), the Head of state. It is not only Al-Bashir who committed those crimes but also the whole regime is responsible of those crimes, and it is difficult for me and many others to trust that they could voluntarily charge and condemn themselves. That is why since the historical announcement of the (ICC) Prosecutors of the indictment of the Sudanese president, the whole governing body is in panic. The government had consistency refused all proposals to bring justice in Darfur.
It is pretty clear that the government is (un-willing and un-able) to bring justice in Darfur. That is what made us to relinquish to International Criminal Court (ICC) and we are still in that believe and trust.
It is, only, the International Criminal Court (ICC), is capable of bringing justice in Darfur, and it has already leapt upon its prey.
