Arab League head to attend Sudanese peace talks in Naivasha next week
NAIROBI, March 15, 2004 (Sudan Tribune) — Kenyan Foreign Minister Kalonzo Musyoka has announced yesterday that Secretary-General of the Arab League Amr Musa will arrive in Nairobi next week to get acquainted with the progress of the peace process in Sudan.
Musa will meet First Vice-President Ali Osman Mohamed Taha and SPLM Chairman Dr John Garang, the Sudan News Agency (SUNA) reported.
Direct meetings between First Vice-President Ali Osman Mohamed Taha and Chairman of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) Dr John Garang entered their third day after a meeting Saturday evening 13 March at Naivasha, Kenya, where discussions continued on pending issues which include the three disputed areas, sharing of power and the interim arrangements.
Garag-Taha meetings were preceded by a series of reunions led by the first vice-president with members of the government negotiating delegation, where the outcome of consultations made by the first vice-president with the government, the National Congress and the other political forces were reviewed.
