September 5, 2024 (KHARTOUM BAHRI) – Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have been accused of executing seven civilians in the Salama North area of Khartoum Bahri, residents and activists said on Wednesday.

The killings reportedly occurred after the RSF clashed with the army in the area on Monday. Sources told Sudan Tribune the victims were shot in front of their homes after the army withdrew.

The RSF has not responded to the allegations.

Areas where fighting takes place often see a surge in violence after one side retreats, with accusations of residents collaborating with the enemy.

The incident follows accusations last month that the army massacred 12 civilians in North Bahri after an attack on one of its convoys.

The RSF has largely controlled Bahri since the conflict erupted in April, while the army maintains a presence in key military installations.

The war has displaced millions and caused a severe humanitarian crisis.
