Sudanese army advances in Khartoum Bahri, cuts off RSF supply lines
September 27, 2024 (KHARTOUM) – The Sudanese army said on Friday it had taken control of the Kadru area in Khartoum Bahri, north of the capital, which had served as a key supply route for the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to access fuel from the Khartoum refinery.
This comes two days after the army launched its largest military operation since the outbreak of the war in the Sudanese capital, crossing from Omdurman into the twin cities of Khartoum and Bahri.
The Sudanese army posted videos on its Facebook page showing its officers and soldiers in the Kadru suburb north of Khartoum Bahri after declaring it free of RSF forces.
The commander of the Kadru military zone, Major General Al-Numan Awad Al-Sayed, appeared in a video announcing that Kadru had been cleared of “the rebellion,” as the army described it, before stressing that they would move forward to clear any remaining pockets of resistance.
The images also showed houses in the Kadru suburb that the army said the RSF had turned into barracks and military bases to store equipment and combat vehicles after expelling citizens from them and looting their belongings.
In late May, the army accused the RSF of destroying the Halfaya Bridge linking Omdurman and Bahri.
The RSF remained silent on the army’s advance in ،Khartoum Bahri, which it uses as a platform to bomb Omdurman.
Videos published by the army in the Al-Azirab area showed its soldiers hundreds of meters from the Halfaya Bridge.
