Sudan restricts contact with foreign missions

Graham Abdel Gader, minister of culture and information

October 7, 2024 (KHARTOUM) – Sudan’s acting prime minister has ordered officials to cease direct communication with foreign embassies and diplomatic missions and channel all contact through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or designated representatives.

Culture and Information Minister Graham Abdelkader, acting as government spokesman, said the directive aims to streamline communications between foreign entities and Sudanese officials, including former government employees and tribal leaders.

The Ministry of Federal Governance will oversee contact with local administration leaders in coordination with the Foreign Ministry.

“This move is intended to ensure that all communication adheres to official procedures and protocols,” Abdelkader said.

The directive comes as Sudan grapples with a volatile political landscape following the recent outbreak of conflict.
