Let us not forget to thank H.E the out going USA President George Bush!
The man who by hooks and crooks forged the CPA thus ending the two decades of war in south Sudan.

November 15, 2008 — Now that the American presidential elections are over and a new boss is about to move into the Oval house to take over from H.E the out going President George Bush, what do we as south Sudanese say of this great man ?

The name of President George Bush is indeed synonymous with the CPA in one hand and the redemption of the entire world from the global terrorism being perpetuated through political Islam on the other hand.

Over the last eight years I have developed a special liking for this great American leader. He is practical, straight forward and prompt. He is indeed a no nonsense guy, always with a job to do and he does it to the letter.

While SPLM is preparing to celebrate the Obama’s victory for yet what he shall do for south Sudan , all patriotic and true south Sudanese shouldn’t forget to appreciate what President George W. Bush did for south Sudan in realizing the CPA which SPLM/A is now enjoying .

My only piece of advice to the SPLM officials is that I hope they are going to celebrate Obama based on merits and deliverance of which none has yet happened, because if you are just expressing your gut feelings in response to a victory scored by an African American who has been voted in by his fellow Americans to be their next president, then everyone else did that on the night the result of the elections was announced. But as a political party yet to further and stage another special celebration to what should have been a popular reaction , I am afraid to say that you might be going too far especially in your positions as the leading political party in the south and also I would like to draw your attention to be careful with racially motivated politics.

CPA has been one hell of a marathon between the NCP Islamists and the SPLM/A.. Hopefully I assume that all of us still vividly remember how it was made difficult by Egypt, Libya, the Arab League, Khartoum and many others for the south Sudanese to secure the right to self determination. Let us remain vigilant because lately I can see that they have started hanging around again.

This is what I want us to remember as far as the out going American officials had to do during the CPA negotiations…….Whenever things started to go wrong at any stage of the talks, or when the Arabs started being stubborn and begin to drag their feet on certain items, our brother Georgie would step in with full weight and push talks ahead. We should thank him for all these, and when he is finally retired in Texas we shall remember him as our true liberator and continue to keep him in a high position in our hearts and minds .and this we shall continue to do as southern Sudanese citizens, today, tomorrow and forever.

Many American Presidents came and went since our five decades of struggle with the Arabs, what did they do for us? All the sympathy we got from the west throughout this struggle was only from the Christian organisations as if there were no governments out there, until came this Christian born again (George W. Bush), filled with Holy Spirit up to the brim and hence he was able to deliver us out of our troubles. First he broke the enemy’s hand and kept twisting it until the enemy out of pain had no choice but to signed the Peace deal and the CPA came to being. Let us thank him.

It took the Israelites forty years of journey in the wilderness before reaching the Promised Land. It was a journey from Egypt to Palestine, about half an hour flight, a few hour drive or less than two weeks walk on foot. So why did it took them that long? The reasons are about to be explained in the lines which follow.

And we on our part, we haven’t also journeyed well. It has now taken us; we the south Sudanese more than fifty years and still we haven’t yet reached our promised land. This is basically due to the leadership which has no clear road map and the over assumption that the masses are supposed to automatically or inherently assume the good intentions of the leaders, something which never happens in politics.

However it was with the help of the out going President George Bush that we were able to cross the Red Sea and now we are camping in Sinai, but will the new Presidency of Barack Obama help us ultimately to enter the Promised Land? This, we shall wait to see while we remain appreciative to H.E President Bush.
