October 12, 2024 (UNITED NATIONS) – Sudan on Thursday renewed its accusations against the United Arab Emirates of supporting the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the ongoing conflict, urging the UN Security Council to take action against what it called “continuous aggressive activities.”

In a letter to the Security Council President dated Oct. 11, Sudan presented what it described as new evidence of UAE’s military, financial, and logistical support for the RSF. This follows a formal complaint filed by Sudan against the UAE on March 29, which accused the Gulf state of planning to ignite the war and supporting the RSF with help from Chad.

The letter cited instances of wounded RSF fighters receiving treatment at Zayed Military Hospital in Abu Dhabi and included images of heavy artillery ammunition boxes bearing the UAE’s name, allegedly seized after battles in Jabal Moya. Sudan also presented images of trucks with Dubai license plates purportedly used to transport weapons and ammunition and said it had confiscated recently manufactured Emirati medicines and medical supplies from the RSF.

“These seized items are in the possession of the Sudanese Armed Forces and can be examined by UN experts,” the letter stated.

Sudan further accused the UAE of “recruiting mercenaries” from various countries to fight alongside the RSF and providing them with financial, logistical, and diplomatic support.

“The UAE’s conduct makes it a key partner in the war of aggression against Sudan,” the Sudanese Foreign Ministry said.

The letter also claimed the UAE is “defying international law and the UN system” and accused it of pursuing a “settlement project” in Sudan based on “ethnic supremacy” that threatens regional stability.

Sudan called on the Security Council to condemn the UAE and hold it accountable for its alleged actions.

The UAE has previously denied these allegations.
