RSF accused of new atrocities in Sennar state

October 15, 2024 (AL DINDIR) – Activists on Tuesday accused the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) of committing a new wave of abuses against civilians in several villages in Sudan’s Sennar state, including looting, killing and injuring residents.

The accusations come after the army recaptured the strategic Jebel Moya area in Sennar earlier this month, cutting off RSF supply lines.

“After its main supply line was cut off, the RSF militia in Al Dindir began looting, robbing and killing citizens in a new wave of barbaric attacks on defenceless citizens in various villages,” the Al Dindir Emergency Room said in a statement.

The statement, which Sudan Tribune could not independently verify, said the RSF attacked the villages of Hillet Fur and Babjina, killing one person, wounding others and looting property.

The emergency room, a group of volunteer professionals and activists, called on authorities to provide medical aid to villagers suffering from cholera and other illnesses. It also urged the army to take action to stop the RSF’s “violations.”

In June, the RSF seized control of Al Dindir and other areas in Sennar.

The army recaptured Jebel Moya on Oct. 5 after fierce fighting. The army then announced it would cut off supply routes to RSF forces in the cities of Singa, Al Dindir, Al Souki, Karkoj, and other villages in Sennar state.
