October 23, 2024 (AL-DINDER) – The Sudanese army retook control of Al-Dinder in Sennar state on Wednesday after fierce battles with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), military sources said.

The army, backed by the allied Joint Force and the General Intelligence Service, launched an offensive on Wednesday morning to retake Al-Dinder, which fell to the RSF in early July.

The sources told Sudan Tribune that the army was able to recover the city of Al-Dinder from the Rapid Support Forces.

They said the army used heavy weapons, artillery, and suicide drones under air cover from warplanes in the offensive.

After seizing the city, the paramilitary group formed a local government in Al-Dinder.

The RSF has been accused of widespread human rights abuses against residents of Al-Dinder and its surrounding villages, including killings, displacement, and looting.

The army continued to carry out air strikes on Al-Dinder, particularly targeting the village of Kamrab, which is believed to be a stronghold of the RSF.
