Sudanese army drone strike kills two at fuel market in Khartoum
November 1, 2024 (KHARTOUM) – At least two people were killed and more than 20 wounded on Friday when a Sudanese army drone struck fuel vendors in south Khartoum, a local activist said.
The attack occurred in the same area where 24 people were killed and 27 wounded in a similar strike on Oct. 22. The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary group controls much of the area.
“At least two people were killed, and more than 20 others were injured after a drone targeted fuel shops at the Al-Sahrij station in the Ad Hussein area, south of Khartoum,” Mohamed Kandsha, a spokesman for the South Belt Emergency Room, told Sudan Tribune.
The southern belt of the capital, including the Al-Ingaz, Al-Salama, Al-Azhari, Ad Hussein and Mayo neighbourhoods, has seen heavy fighting between the army and the RSF.
The area is regularly subjected to artillery shelling and air strikes, which have caused a high number of civilian casualties.
