November 7, 2024 (OMDURMAN) – At least one person was killed and five others wounded on Thursday when the Sudanese army clashed with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) near Omdurman, the army said.

The army said it had repelled an RSF attack on the Wad Al-Bashir, Al-Doha and Bant areas east of the city.

The RSF has been shelling the area with heavy artillery and drones from its positions in south and west Omdurman despite having been pushed out of the city earlier this year.

“At least one person was killed and five others were injured as a result of the rebel militia’s bombardment,” a statement by the spokesman for the Khartoum State Ministry of Health, Mohamed Ibrahim, said.

The army launched a major offensive in September to retake the capital, Khartoum and has since regained control of large areas of the city, including Omdurman.

However, fighting continues in some areas, and the RSF still controls parts of the country.
