November 23, 2024 (SINJAH) – The Sudanese army called on South Sudan’s government on Saturday to prevent Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fighters from crossing the border after they fled the city of Sinjah.

The army announced earlier on Saturday that it had recaptured Sinjah, the capital of Sennar state, following intense battles with the RSF.

The army retook the city after mobilizing forces from Al Dinder, Al Suki, Sennar, and Blue Nile. These forces advanced slowly, recapturing towns and villages along the way.

“RSF elements looted the resources and money of the Sudanese people, and they are now on their way to South Sudan,” Colonel Abbadi Al-Tahir Al-Zain, commander of the mobile force that retook Sinjah, said in a video statement “Our message to the government of South Sudan is not to allow them to cross the border. We will pursue them wherever they go.”

Al-Zain affirmed the army’s determination to pursue the remaining RSF elements to the border with South Sudan.

He said the RSF suffered heavy losses in lives and military equipment during the battle for Sinja.

The RSF still controls the localities of Al Dali and Al Mazmoum, near the border with South Sudan, where its fighters are heavily concentrated. The RSF also remains in control of Abu Hajar and Wad Al-Nil in Sennar state, as well as some villages in the Al-Tadamon locality in the Blue Nile region.
