Jonglei Governor urges Muslims to align for development

December 9, 2008 (BOR TOWN) — Governor Kuol Manyang Juuk urged Muslims on Monday to use available resources but avoid “making money only.”

Eid_Adha_Jonglei.jpgGovernor Manyany was speaking to Muslims, majority of whom non-citizens to Jonglei State and predominantly northern Sudanese and Darfurians, during the celebration of Eid al Adha on Monday.

Over 3000 people turn up for the feast of sacrifices. Religious leaders hail Jonglei government for the freedom of religion.

Jonglei State Minister of gender and social development, meanwhile, pressed Sudanese Muslims to mean peace and peaceful co-existence. “We are here as Muslims from Darfur, southern and northern Sudan but women and children are suffering in Darfur,” Recheal Nyadak said.

The minister added “let’s work hard for peace in our country” as religious people and brothers. She requests the State government to help in initiating Muslims – Christians dialogue.

Most Muslims in Bor Town are from Darfur and Northern Sudan. The group dominates business activities and casual works. Unfortunately, sources from local banks reveal that they do not hold bank accounts here.

This, the Governor says is better reversed for common benefits. “There is no money in bank and nowhere to borrow either,” he said.

Governor Manyang also observed that foreigners in the State capital avoid renting by congesting small huts. “If fifty people sleep in the same house, then we shall assume you have come here to make money and leave,” he noted.

Jonglei is really boosting with business if darfourians and northerners are busy with their businesses.
That show the real peace CPA is being tasted by everybody irrespective of colour, religion and geographical restriction.

As his excellency Kuol Manyang said, there should be Muslim-christians dialogue to ensure harmony and teamwork.

Jonglei is prosperious than many other states and we therefore thank the administration for their toil.
