Sudan government and Khartoum delegations participate in Christmas celebrations

December 25, 2008 (KHARTOUM) — In the framework of the Christmas celebrations, delegations from the federal government and Khartoum state took part today in the masses and festivities organised by different churches in the capital and its suburbs.

The Minister of Health Tabitha Boutros, heading a delegation from the national unity government and commission of religious coexistence, visited the Catholic Church,at Nile Street in Khartoum, the Evangelical Church, and the Episcopal Church in Khartoum. Boutros represented the Sudanese President Omer Al-Bashir.

Another delegation, led by Samia Ahmed Mohamed, Minister of Welfare and Social Development, accompanied by the state minister at the Federal Affair Ministry John Ankol and a number of representatives of governmental bodies and civil society organizations, visited three churches in Khartoum North and Alhaj Yusuf suburb.

While the Minister of Youth and Sport accompanied by the deputy speaker of the national parliament, Atem Garang, Khartoum state minister of social affairs Samia Habani and the commissioner of Omdurman district Al-Fatih Izzeldin, visited churches in Omdurman and Ombada suburb.

Also in Ombada, the deputy governor of Khartoum state Barmena Orial visited Wad Al-Bashir camp where he congratulated Christians and presented Christmas gifts to them.

Also the commissioner of Jabel Awlia district visited Al-Salam camp where he met local chiefs and populations and presented gifts.
