Jordan to establish health center in South Darfur

December 25, 2008 (AMMAN) — The Jordanian the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) today sent a plane carrying equipment and supplies to set up a medical center in Kass town in South Darfur state.

A statement issued by the JUCO on Thursday said Jordan’s King Abdullah II had directed to build the health center which is valued at $400,000 to serve more than 25000 people there. It is expected to be operational in January 2009.

The equipments were transported by a military airplane to the capital of the state. Further another plane will carry additional materials but the date is not yet indicated.

The location of the center had been chosen by a Jordanian team. Jordan had already sent humanitarian aid to Darfur in the past. The statement said the total of its humanitarian assistance reached 10 million dollars.
