US a natural ally to South Sudan – official

By James Dak

January 8, 2009 (JUBA) — Any American government’s administration will always be an ally to the people of Southern Sudan, says a high ranking official in the administration of President George W. Bush.

Jendayi Frazer
Jendayi Frazer
Jendayi Frazer, the US Assistant Secretary for African Affairs, told the BBC today that the incoming US administration under President-elect, Barrack Obama will continue to be an ally to Southern Sudanese.

She said the outgoing President George Bush had emphasized this to the First Vice President of Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, who also serves as the President of the semi-autonomous Southern Sudan government.

“Our natural allies in Sudan are Southerners…any US administration is going to continue to be a strong supporter of Southerners in Sudan in the expectation that they can live their lives freely and peacefully,” Frazer assured.

She said the 2005 peace deal signed between the SPLM and the NCP was entering its critical phase of its implementation. She said the full implementation of the CPA will guarantee the success of the peace process in Darfur.

The US official in charge of African affairs file added that she noted the international focus was diverted to Darfur leaving the CPA vulnerable.
She described the CPA, which enters its fourth year, as a very complicated peace agreement that needs a lot of work to be done.

Thank you so much Mr Kiir Miyardit, for you have made an excellent move. Such kind of move is what we want you to do as our President of Southern Sudan and a Vice President of Sudan as well. We want you to continued with such strategies and without fear.

Look dear our President Kiir, we really need you a lot so that you can fulfils the part which is missing in CPA protocol. And another thing that we wants to remind you all the time is that don’t forget about Aweil, Ruweng(Abiemnom), Panaru(Panrieng) and Jok(Abyei. I know you know them anyway, but to remind you.

Mr Kiir, we know you a lot through your attributions and a good self-esteem, but if you are silent killer, then make sure that you got win your game very positively.
Thanks you so much and God will bless you.

I appreciate your true statement, Frazer, and I hope it comes from the bottom of your administration’s heart. If that is the case, then please unlike your outgoing administration, advise the incoming administration of Barrack Obama to support wholeheartedly the people of Southern Sudan in their historical cause to form an independent country of their own so that they are free at last. Never the manipulated vision of the so-called new united socialist/secular sudan which is never a solution to the North-South war.
