Sudanese demonstrate in support of Gaza’s Palestinians
January 8, 2008 (KHARTOUM) – Thousands of Sudanese demonstrated today in Khartoum raising banners supportive to the Palestinian Hamas organization and shouting the Israeli offensive in Gaza Strip.
The government supported protest was addressed by Sudanese officials and government backed organizations.
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Ahmed Ibrahim Al-Tahir lauded the steadfast confrontation of the martyrs and mujahideen in Gaza to “the arrogance and aggression of the Zionists and their allies,” the official SUNA reported.
He further said the demonstration is a message to all oppressors in the world who support Israel and exert injustice and plotting against Sudan, adding that victory will be for Gaza.
Sudanese Minister of State for Foreign Affairs al-Samani Al-Wasila reminded the commitment of the Sudanese people in the defense of Palestine and their participation in the different wars since 1948.
He also questioned the silence of the western world over the “genocide and human rights violations” in Gaza strip pointing out that “what is happening in Gaza is unacceptable.”
During the week the pro government organizations organized different protest outside the UN office in Khartoum and foreign embassies but today demonstration was the biggest.
