?Sudanese-Saudi joint committee meetings kick off
KHARTOUM, March 23, 2004 (KUNA) — The Ministerial Sudanese-Saudi joint committee meetings kicked off here Tuesday. Sudanese Minister of External Trade Abdul Hameed Mousa Kasha chaired the Sudanese side, while Saudi Minister of Commerce and Industry Hashim Bin Abdullah Yamani chaired the Saudi delegation.
In a speech he delivered during the inauguration session, Kasha said, the meeting aims to enhance the distinguished cooperation relations between the two brotherly states, confirming the two countries’ keenness on the interests of the peoples of the two states.
The Sudanese minister confirmed that his country is looking forward to establish wider partnership between Sudan and Saudi Arabia that aims to support inter-Arab cooperation.
For his part, Saudi Minister of Commerce and Industry called on the joint committee to found a basis of real partnership between the two countries and turn available opportunities into genuine reality that could attain exchange of interests.
The Saudi minister stressed the necessity of increasing size of commercial exchange and private sector joint projects in the two countries, referring to the weak Sudanese investment in the Kingdom – not more than 260 million rials in 13 joint projects.
It is expected the two sides will sign on Wednesday 25 projects in different areas. These include cooperation in political, security, education, higher education, banking, information, roads, electricity and other fields.
