Departure of NCP is remedy for the tragic mess in Sudan

By Mahmoud A. Suleiman

January 25, 2008 — The existence of the National Congress Party (NCP) in power is the main reason if not the sole cause for the tragedies and the suffering of the people of Sudan. The National Congress Party (NCP) regime in Khartoum remains the major obstacle to peace, development and prosperity for the people of Sudan. The NCP has been warring with the citizens of Sudan for two decades unnecessarily whilst significant parts of the Sudanese land is occupied unlawfully by foreign countries.

Originally known as National Islamic Front (NIF), the National Congress Party (NCP) government in Khartoum led by the ICC indicted military ruler Marshal Omer Hassan Ahmed al-Bashir, has abrogated its responsibilities towards the citizens and neglected the essential public services such as health, education and security. The Sudanese people are living in dire conditions of poverty, disease and illiteracy in spite of the huge oil revenues that the regime misappropriates. The NCP threatened the livelihood of the entire population in Sudan, claimed 300000 innocent lives and displaced over two million people from their homes and homelands in Darfur. Moreover, NCP regime spread sedition among the people to kill each other and waging proxy war through its allied militias. The corrupt NCP clique of 19 club members have been robbing the country’s savings and smuggling the wealth outside the country to transfer it into private companies and buildings as if the rest of the people of Sudan do not share in the proceeds of oil, gold and foreign investments in the country, and as though the marginalised regions of Sudan are not part of the geographical map of Sudan Needless to say that good governance, rule of law, respect of human rights and honest guidance to people have been in appalling short supply during the reign of the NIF/NCP regime of the 2o lean years. Political analysts and concerned observers wonder why the NCP can’t bunch of genocidaire leave hurriedly and make the political arena for those who are more efficient to manage the affairs of the country.

The hard-won independent united Sudan stands threatened by the most shameful callous institution called the National Islamic Front/National Congress Party (NIF/NCP) with a record of acts of antinational nature, acts of racial discrimination, ethnic cleansing and genocide against the people of Darfur, the Southern Sudan, Nuba Mountains, Ingessena and against the interests of the nation. The National Congress Party (NCP) as it calls itself since it assumed power by a coup d’état is anything but National. It has demonstrated a track-record of anti-national spirit of systematic corruption, nepotism and other dismal acts for the past two decades. The only motive of the National Congress Party clique is to stay in power to enjoy the wealth of the country at all costs in utter disregard of the consequences. Therefore, some radical steps are necessary to be resorted to.

Furthermore, the NCP is renowned for violation of agreements, evasion of promises and saying something but does quite the opposite. It is all promises and a body of lies as a rule. If someone ever expects that the NCP regime is likely to honour commitment and fulfill agreements and covenants he/she is in a state of imagination or unrealistically idealistic living in Cloud-cuckoo-land. This gang of National Congress Party has blatantly violated all the peace agreements it signed in Darfur, Eastern region, South of Sudan through non-implementation of the items.

In the circumstances, some observers believe that the only solution to the prevailing political problems of Sudan, unless the National Congress Party’s (NCP) despotic regime to disband itself in the pristine interests of the nation and depart unconditionally to pave the way for a capable democratic government to lead the country at this critical juncture, otherwise the marginalised people of Sudan, the effective Sudanese political powers (Political parties) and the freedom fighting armed movements are left with no choice other than forcibly toppling the corrupt genocidal minority military junta government. Hitherto, the Sudanese people are fully prepared to take that final course of action. There is no excuse for the one who has been warned. When the inevitable strikes, nobody is expected to shed tears in sorrow at the demise of the NCP and the extinction of its brutal Security and Intelligence machine bases.

It is of far-reaching importance that people must not believe that the removal of the National Congress (NIF/NCP) regime is a prohibitive or an impossible task. The vulnerability of the regime has been proved unequivocally by the unprecedented surprising attack on the National Capital Khartoum by the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) through its Code named Operation long Arm (OLA)or (The Battle of Omdurman) on the tenth of May two thousand and nine. The OLA proved that the regime was just an isolated fragile paper tiger that had no public support and depended more than anything else on its allied militias, the infamous paramilitary Popular Defence Forces (PDF) and the Security apparatus led by Salah Abdallah Gosh, because the elements in the NCP have no trust in the regular armed forces. Furthermore, the Sudanese Army is not expected to fight a losing battle against the Sudanese people, to whom it belongs, for the sake of a criminal establishment. On the other hand, the ever chanting mobs ???????that cheered every Government and currently aligned itself with the NCP will not stand with the fighting at the decisive battles in the critical stage, because they are just hirelings, akin to mercenaries who are ready wherever the money is available for them!

The Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA) which is signed on January 9 2005 between the National Congress Party (NCP) and the Sudan People Liberation Movement (SPLM) is a fruit of the struggle and an achievement of the people of Southern Sudan. It is the duty of the people of Sudan to ensure its full implementation and rescue it from the noxious maneuvers, prevarication and plots of the National Congress Party (NCP) regime. The people of Sudan in Darfur pay homage to the Government of Sudan (GOSS) and to First Vice President H.E. Salva Kiir Mayardit for supporting the International Criminal Court (ICC) and advising the NCP Government of Sudan (GOS) to cooperate with the Court. Bearing in mind that in mid-July 2008 the prosecutor Luis Moreno – Ocampo filed 10 charges: three counts of genocide, five of crimes against humanity and two of murder and accused Marshal Omer Hassan Ahmed al-Bashir of masterminding a campaign to get rid of the African tribes in Darfur; Fur, Masalit and Zaghawa. The NCP regime has been carrying out a pre-indictment bombing of civilians and IDPs in the Muhajria area, South Darfur daily with Antanov planes, MiG 29 and in one occasion a helicopter gunship started on Friday 23rd January 2009 a military statement by General Ali Al-wafi Military Spokesperson for JEM in the Liberated Zone, Darfur.

Although no date has yet been set for the International Criminal Court’s decision on an arrest warrant against Omer al-Bashir on charges of genocide in Darfur, analysts believe that it is imminent. National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) director Salah Abdalla (AKA Gosh) has been quoted by the Sudan Media Centre (SMC) as telling a meeting of senior newspaper editors that he could not predict what kind of reaction outlaws could undertake if ICC issues a verdict of indictment of al-Bashir and he suspects they may possibly target some Western aliens, namely from the United States, Britain and France “of using the court to force concessions out of Khartoum”. However, the rebel movements such as Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) assert that their forces are ready to intervene swiftly to prevent the spread of state of lawlessness and anarchy in the country on the pretext of indictment of the NCP president. JEM considers the protection of IDPs, UN-AU peace keepers, Diplomatic missions, Humanitarian workers, NGOs, foreign residents and the Sudanese citizens is a responsibility that it is going to shoulder in the event the NCP elements try to act on their evil plan. All options are open and in place to confront the worst case scenarios, rebel groups have stated and added that they are monitoring the situation closely and their intelligence bodies are vigilant. Furthermore, if indicted, Omer al-Bashir loses eligibility and fitness to continue holding the post of president at the presidency institution, accordingly the First Vice President H.E. Silva Kiir Mayardit would replace Omer al-Bashir whilst the political powers form a Transitional National Government (TNG) with specific terms of reference, namely: to restore Law and Order in the country, implement the Comprehensive Peace Agreement (CPA), address the crisis in Darfur through a peaceful resolution, prepare the country for free and fair democratic elections and hand over power to New Democratically Elected National Government. The Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) pledged that they are fully prepared to form a coalition with the Sudan People Liberation Movement/Army (SPLM/A), SLM and Beja Congress, other opposition groups and the effective Sudanese Political Powers/ Parties for this end.

I read your article, very specific but indicate the very reason why Darfurians are suffering. In your article you identified the affliction Sudan’s people have experienced in the hand of NIF/NCF. You also mentioned the counter-national act of NIF/NCP through racial discrimination, ethnicity, and the genocide against the people of Darfur but you were unsuccessful in narrating and dismally falling short of mentioning the very cause of the problem. if you are not aware of NIF strengths then you must be living in denial Mr. Suleiman. The NIF was created through the support of Darfurains. You should be occurrence enough to know the survival of NIF was through Dafurians military support. The genocidal acts committed by Darfurians soldier in the name of religion are still perceptible in southern Sudan. Evidently, that’s why you did not mention NIF has discrimination the Sudanese people base on religion. The success of the NIF was religion which most of you Darfurians seem to be forgetting. I can sadly say what goes around comes around. So fight like we southerners fought and stop crying to the world about help. The NCF is not going anywhere, al-Bashir might be facing crime against humanity but the rest of NIF/NCF are still around and their genocidal ideologies are not going away as long the oil wells are still flowing with oil. Fight like men and put off national unity, southerners are not going to fall for this unity talk. Darfurians have to unshackle themselves from the slavery of ill religious ideologies before southerner can pay attention to their idiotic irresponsible misguiding predicaments they have caused to themselves. Mr. Suleiman to success the fight against the NIF Darfurians have to embraced Africanism, denounce arabization, stick to the true peaceful Islam that condemn transgressions, and most importantly do not fall for islamist leaders like Al-Turabi who has been using Darfurians for his own political a agenda. I’m replying your article as a personal advice to the Darfurians not as SPLM supporter but a fellow Sudanese who hates to see guiltless Darfurians women and children suffer. I’m very dismay of the division amongst Darfurians.

You people of Darfur should not be crying like women, you have killed us since 1955. Don’t call yourselve now as African. You are Arabs and muslims, I am one of the people whom you killed his brother. If our president asks for troops to Darfur, I will be the first person to go and kill like what you did to us. Please, people of southern Sudan don’t veer your eyes off the ball, it’s likely that we will get our independence through NCP, and then after that let Arabs and muslims determine their fate. Thanks
