January 27, 2009 (BOR) – Jonglei government dismissed ‘rumors’ that local communities of Duk and Lou Nuer are at a bridge of sparking intertribal war, urging the heralds to decease or face the law.
Governor Kuol Manyang Juuk and Deputy Gov. Hussien Mar Nyout made the statement on Tuesday in State capital Bor Town at a rally meant to sensitize citizens on the issues of peace and development.
It has been widely speculated in recent weeks that Lou Nuer may retaliate on Duk citizens following the ambushing of traders truck heading for Nyirol on January 11 near Poktap (Duk County headquarters). On Friday January 23, armed men reportedly raided a village in Duk County, killing one man and injured another on separate attack on Saturday.
Jonglei government denounced both incidents but warns civilians saying “don’t take the laws into your hands.”
Deputy Gov. Mar Nyout empathized that criminals carrying out raiding, abduction and looting are not linked to any community interest though Murle, Nuer and Dinka communities have substantial numbers compared to Kacipo and Anyuak.
“The problem is between Murle, Dinka and Nuer but Anyuak and Kacipo are very peaceful people,” he said in Arabic. Mr. Mar calls upon the citizens of Jonglei State to isolate rumor-mongers and work for a common progress in the State. He also argued the five thousand people who turn-up for the rally at Governor’s office today to aim at reaching 2011 because “21 years of conflicts were too long and costly compared to the remaining years.”
“Why should Dinka and Nuer fight?” Deputy Gov. Mar asked, adding that there are some people with hidden agenda who want to be praised for any crisis in Southern Sudan.
Governor Kuol Manyang highlighted progress made in drilling water points, construction of electricity which he said will be complete in April, high enrollment in schools, roads construction with Ayod – Wad – Akobo road to be officially started on January 30th, 2009. Bor – Pibor road construction is due to commence in a month thereafter.
“We are moving ahead smoothly but remember that nothing can be done in one day,” Gov. Kuol said referring to works he pledged to be done in the State. He said peace is achievable and State Government has asked Duk and Lou Nuer leaders to organize peace conference kicking-off on January 30th. He also dismissed allegation that Lou Nuer and Duk were at war asking those people behind this negative campaign to decease from the practice or face the law.
In a related development, Jonglei leaders once more distanced themselves from police arrest of girls and boys two weeks ago. Deputy Gov. Mar said such arrest should be made procedural if at all necessary but not in the approach witnessed that Sunday. He said Jonglei Police Commissioner Riak Akon has been directed to investigate the incident. Mr. Mar also gave police a green light against it behaviors on reporters claiming that South Sudan’s party don’t allow torturing.
“Stopping reporters from taking information is a behavior of National Congress Party,” he said accusing those institutions rejecting press of failing to execute the policy of Southern Sudan government.

Your the enemies of peace in South, don’t ever turn the problems from upside down. You fight with every tribe in South what does this mean to yourseleves?. The first people to abuse power in South are yourselves, you loot money plus guns and you claim that your in power, what power is being used by weapons instead of having a logically capacity to claim yourself. But this is not a genuine application for handing a power over a nation like South. You should not pay your attention on one side, your junglese are number one group of violence in South Sudan. I just warn that this savageness must be abolish before we approach 2011, otherwise at that stage things will get worse forever and no body will accept any apology or sorry. Lets wait for the land bill respond from Mr dictator Kiir.

My Dear leaders of Jonglei State, Mr Kuol and Mr Hussien Mar thank for your comment for peace to be called by the two community leaders but the peace will not be successful because of Riek Machar influnce on Lou Nuer, I am personally from Duk and both duk and lou have been neighbor for thousand of years and the have found my wars but thet have ended in 1914 without defeat.
the current conflict was backup by Riek in 1991 where his forces kill alot of people and we never left our areas and both communities know themselves very well even the brother of deputy governor name Tut Mar was a police officer in Duk from 1970s to 1983 where he joint SPLA and he was kill by Murle between Akobo and Waat in 1989.
you want understand that never happen from Duk to Attack LOU from their respectives but LOU USED to.the evident are last three weeks Lou Nuer kill two members of Duk in Pawai. the names of the two were Thon Majok Arok and Gai Chan and this they have kill SPLA R/SM from Duk namely Madhier Anyang and one civilian name Abiel Garkuoth.
if you want two communities to leave in peace you need to put the SPLA FORCE on the border between them.
you all know that there are war supporter because of leadership these communities have nothing to do with any one position.
Recently Riek cames to governor office and say chief Majok Tot from hol need to be part OF LOU and you need to gave him land.

You don’t need to guess who i am, rather than talking rubbish and “even unable to spell Madi” how can you deny your identity if you cannot prove yourself as none junglese. Sorry,because you and your whole community will never find and cave to hide with their identity beside the physical appearance. It is good the money that you loot from Goss should be used to buy with local teeth to replace the removal onces, and this may give you a littele chance to hide with yourselves. Using Equatorian names will not get yourself a chance to be recoginsed as an Equatorians.

What is Duk vs Lou Nuer? Duk is a name of place not a tribe or clan. You better say Duk vs Wuror, or Dinka Nyarweng of Duk County vs Cieng Dak of Wuror County. Lou Nuer is a very big element of Nuer tribe and cannot all turn against Bor and Nyarweng combined, otherwise…
When you write, make things clearer to people. Don’t mislead the readers that the whole Lou Nuer is in conflict with a small place called Duk whose inhabitants you have not mentioned. Again, advise Governor Kuol Manyang Juuk to face realities instead of denying the tensions. He should help the Vice President in bringing his state citizens together to reconcile. His tactics by refusing to disarm Dinka Bor at the expense of other tribes is a curse to his community in disguise unless he doesn’t understanding where he is driving to.

I am extremely please to hear such wise comment you gave, it`s really pleasant to have such people like you in South.
I want to tell you that South Sudanese were not like this in the beginning. the enemity within Southerners was Cultivated by this fool greedy vice president Riek after gotten jealousy of DR Garang being the leader of the movement.
He mobolised the innocent ones in the villages to suport him.unfortionutely he failed that he came back to apologised of his belind vision. But he hasn`t gone back to tell his supporters that he was on wrong side such that people like: Gatwech and the rest should get convinced.
