Russian firm to assemble 2000 trucks in Sudan
January 27, 2008 (MOSCOW) – A Russian truck manufacturer announced its plan to assemble 2000 trucks next year in Sudan. Last Augut 2008, the firm said it would export 50 vehicles to the Sudanese government.
Ural truck plant which is incorporated in the Russian GAZ group, said in a press statement released today it finalize plans to assemble 2000 trucks in 2010 in Sudan.
Last year the GAZ Group said the model designed for Sudan (6WD Ural-4320) was being finalized and adjusted to African climate. However the firm didn’t elaborate on the purpose or the beneficiary of the contract.
The Ural-4320 is a general purpose off-road 6×6 truck, produced for use in the Russian Army. The wheel arrangement for the Ural-4320 was designed for transportation of cargoes, people and towing trailers on all types of roads and terrain. But it is also used for drilling for water, oil and gas using drilling rigs.
50 vehicle sets will be shipped to Sudan this year, the firm said.
The GAZ group also said planning to increase its exportation of trucks during the upcoming years. It supplies vehicles to 35 states in the former Soviet Union, Central Europe, Southeast Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East, and produces around 200,000 vehicles every year.
