Abu Dhabi to send mobile hospital to South Sudan

February 14, 2009 (ABU DHABI) — The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will send a mobile hospital to start providing curative, surgical, preventive and training programmes to the needy in South Sudan in April.

The initiative is part of UAE’s humanitarian efforts including those launched by the charity of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in 2003.

Surgeons and doctors from international teaching hospitals will take part in this voluntary humanitarian work in partnership with Abu Dhabi Police, Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, as well as non-profitable local and international organisations.

The mobile hospital includes 15 beds, as well as surgery units, sterilisation devices, medical devices, intensive care units, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology unit, maintenance unit, power generation unit and medical supply unit. It will work for three to six months, reported the Emirates News Agency.

According to Adel Al Shameri, executive director of the Zayed charity initiative and a heart surgery consultant, the initiative was launched in response to official requests from the Ministries of Health.

The Southern Sudan Minister of Health, Joseph Monytuil Wejang, said that Sheikh Zayed’s generous initiative has provided a creative and distinguished model for humanitarian work.

For God’s sake, this doesn’t sound like a good news to me. This is a trial program YAA JAMAA. Do not just allow people who want to test their vaccines on innocent people. If this is a real charity, let them build the hospital which will have a long term service on the lives they are pledging to serve. This is just but a bait program aimed at furnishing student doctors. These people are learners who want to experiment what they have learned. Yaa Junubin, how can you trust a charity that will die after 3-6 months? How can you failed to see the danger associated with this UAE?
